Connecting to our services and locating connection points at your property

Our Connections team connect our own services to South Australian properties with available connections. We connect drinking water, recycled water, sewerage, and water for fire services.

We also offer portable metered hydrants, flow test analysis and network analysis tests.

Before you apply for your connection, use the map below to estimate

  • if a connection service is available in your area
  • where a connection point may exist on your property.
  • the distance between your property and the available service.

Understanding your map results

Once you have confirmed what it will take to connect a service to your property, you can start your connection application here. Our experienced Connections team will then investigate your connection and provide an offer to connect, and an invoice.

Additional connection costs may occur if

  • the connection from the main to your property is greater than 12 metres
  • the depth of the connection is 3.0m or deeper
  • difficult construction conditions exist (for example existing services and infrastructure in the construction path, underground water, trees, rocks or requirements for traffic management)

Find out more about standard and non standard connections here. To understand our connection costs, please see our fees and charges.

Frequently asked questions

I’m building a new home, do I need to apply for water and sewerage?

If you are building on a vacant property or making changes that might impact the current location of your water services, you will need to apply for a new connection or an alteration. Before applying, use the connections map to see what connections may be available at your property.

If you are building a house in a new development, check if your builder has applied for a new water and sewerage connection on your behalf as part of your build contract. If it is not part of your build contract, you will need to apply for a new connection yourself.

I am moving property, what do I need to do?

If you are moving into an existing property with water and sewerage services, you are already connected to our network and do not need to apply for a connection. Your conveyancer will have advised us of the change of ownership and you can immediately begin using the services. We will commence billing you from the date of purchase of the property.

What happens if you are sub-dividing a property?

When sub-dividing an existing property, or for community title divisions, we will automatically assess your land division for new connections after your division has been lodged with Plan SA. Find out more about subdivisions here.

How much does it cost?

There are costs associated with connecting to our network. The fee for a standard connection is determined by the type and size of the water, sewerage or fire service you request.

A $103.00 lodgement fee is payable on submission of water, recycled water, sewerage and fire service applications. This fee covers the costs associated with assessing your application. This this fee will be deducted from the final construction cost if your project goes ahead.

To understand our connections costs, and any additional fees you may be subject to in your application, please see our fees and charges.

Why don’t we display sewer depth on our Connections Estimator Map?

The map’s service and measurement information are estimations and provided as a guide only. We cannot guarantee the completeness or reliability of the information in this map. The map is not intended to replace the specialised and professional advice we provide on the completion of an application. Due to this we are unable to indicate detailed asset information such as depth of sewer connections.

More information can be provided on completion of an application.

Where is recycled water available?

We currently manage the supply of recycled water to the following four areas:

  • Adelaide's parklands
  • Bowden
  • Adelaide’s southern suburbs: supplied to homes in Seaford Meadows and Seaford Heights
  • Mawson Lakes
  • Virginia’s market gardeners: the Virginia Pipeline Scheme uses recycled water from the Bolivar Wastewater Treatment Plant to supply growers in the Virginia area north of Adelaide.

Use the Connections Estimator Map to check if a connection might be available in your area, or contact us to confirm if the recycled water is managed by us.

I need more information than what is displayed on the map. What are my options?

Our Aquamap is available via a subscription license fee. Access to Aquamap provides more detailed information about our assets and infrastructure.

Aquamap is suitable for businesses focussed on engineering, construction and conveyancing with an ABN.
